Semaglutide Weekly Check in

June 12, 2024 By , , ,

Semaglutide for weight lossEvery week on my Semaglutide program, I check in with all of my patients to see how progress is going, troubleshoot any side effects and see if there are things we can do in the lifestyle diet realm to help with progress and overall wellness. I love being there to support my patients through this process. As a physician focusing on medical weight loss, I had the expectation I would not like Semaglutide. I have been so pleasantly surprised to not only love the medication but to be inspired by the latest research going into it to help all kinds of medical issues.

Weekly Semaglutide Email

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying this lovely taste of early Summer. I got to our neighborhood farmers market this weekend and my fridge is bountiful with beautiful greens from the local farmers. That brings me so much JOY!

I know I say it every week, BUT … Please work hard on dialing in the recommended lifestyle diet 85-90% of the time and of course … have your favorite things on occasion as well. This is the path to weight loss maintenance.

Dial into your strongest level of commitment and dig into willpower. It always takes commitment and determination to reach our goals. It is SO worth it to nourish our bodies on a cellular level. It is also very unfortunate that most of the food we have in a grocery store is filled with chemicals, and once we swallow it, it offers us one thing—inflammation!

Remember to be PROUD of yourself and all that you are putting into this process.  It is worth every little food “sacrifice.”  In the end, you are giving your body an amazing gift of cleansing and detoxifying and finding ways besides eating to deal with stress and emotions.  Nicely done!

Feeling healthy and confident in your skin is worth the effort. We have a food obsessed culture and there can be a lot of food pressures that go on in our world.  Stay on plan!  Chase your goals and keep the mindset in line.

This week I dug deep into the newer research emerging on Semaglutide and Inflammation.

Research suggests that semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist, has anti-inflammatory properties and may benefit people with diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, obesity, sleep apnea, non-alcoholic fatty liver, inflammation, etc.

Semaglutide may reduce inflammation by suppressing the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-6 and TNF-α. Studies have shown that semaglutide can:

  • Reduce systemic inflammation
  • In the SELECT trial, participants taking the highest dose of semaglutide experienced a reduction in systemic inflammation. This reduction may be a mechanism that contributes to semaglutide’s cardiac benefits.
  • Reduce C-reactive protein (CRP)
  • In phase 3 trials, semaglutide 2.4 mg significantly reduced CRP concentrations compared with placebo in participants with overweight or obesity. CRP is a biomarker of inflammation that is often elevated in people with these conditions.
  • Improve psoriasis skin lesions.
  • Semaglutide therapy has been shown to decrease PASI by 98.3% compared with baseline, indicating an improvement in psoriasis skin lesions.

I am here to help so reach out anytime!
