Our Children Deserve REAL Food

REAL Food from Birth is Ideal

By the time the time many children are old enough to chew they are given processed junk food void of any real nutrition.  They are also found toting around bottles of sugar laden drinks.  These poor eating habits at such a young age provoke a major sugar addiction right from the very start.  In my opinion, this is really unfair on so many levels to our little ones. We are setting them up for poor health and weight issues right from the start.  I teach this to all of my HCG Diet patients who happen to be Mom’s!

From the first moments after birth, many babies are fed commercial formula’s over breast milk. Commercial fomulas and baby foods are often full of  sugar and processed ingredients.

Breast is Best

I am happy that women these days are more informed about the value of breast milk over infant formula’s.  Not long ago, many woman were mis-informed by the baby formula market to believe that formula was superior nutrition for their babies.  Truth is … breast milk is the best food for babies. Period!   I understand, that in some cases, women do not have the option to breast feed and I have compassion for these instances.  What I would recommend in these cases, is using a recipe for baby formula that is filled with nourishing ingredients for the baby.  I like the one created by the Weston Price Foundation.

Breast milk contains  undigestible oligosaccharides; these are sugars that are unique to breast milk alone.  These oligosacharides are very important as they help to establish and nourish the host of flora in the babies gastro intestinal tract.  I recommend breast feeding exclusively for the first 6 months.  After 6 months, you can begin to supplement with solid food if the child is ready.  You can continue to breast feed as well at this time.  Baby food is SO easy to make at home in your kitchen.  It takes so little time and is by far more nourishing than anything you can get in a jar on a store shelf.

Young Lives at Risk — Overweight American Children

It is now said that 1/3rd of the young American population can be diagnosed as obese.  This number of obese children between the ages of 6 and 19 has TRIPLED in the past 25 years. Statistics show that  80% of obese children will grow into obese adults.   This should be a wake up call!  It is heart breaking to see young children with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, joint pain, type II diabetes, etc., … all of which is virtually reversible with a healthy diet and daily exercise regimen.

Young bodies are growing, developing and rewiring on a daily basis.  Fat cells release hormones that can altar metabolism and obesity will affect just about every growing organ in a childs body.  Not good!  Gaining fat a s a young child is far more detrimental than an adult gaining 5-10 lbs here and there.

The surgeon general has said that this epidemic is a “national catastrophe” and the future health & productivity of an entire generation and therefore our nation could be in jeopardy.

The solution is quite simple!  Education. Knowledge.  What is on the end of your fork is the most powerful medicine. Our bodies need to move and be exercised every day.  Lets share the information we have with our friends and help set a new standard for our little ones.
