Maintaining Weight Loss After Semaglutide

Semaglutide for Weight Loss Intermittent FastinfSemaglutide is a wonderful medication that promotes weight loss while working on a healthy lifestyle.  Personally, I find using Semaglutide for weight loss pointless if you are not considering a plan for maintaining your losses. Semaglutide can be used in an amazing way as a TOOL to help with weight loss while you work to dial in a lifestyle diet that will provide the support you need to maintain your losses. No one wants to hear this, but it is 85-90% DIET!!!  Semaglutide is not a stand-alone solution to promote weight loss; it is a tool.  I love the protocol we have created at The Natural Path using Semaglutide to help with weight loss while dialing in a healthy lifestyle diet that will truly be the gift that keeps on giving. Our human genetic makeup promotes a fat storage mode when insulin is triggered in response to carb/sugar intake. With the modern-day diet, I would venture to say that most people are in a chronic state of fat storage. This can be reversed with mindfulness around diet and what we choose to fuel our bodies with.  We do have a choice!

The Challenge with Maintaining Weight Loss after Semaglutide

The challenge is that many people find themselves gaining weight after they stop taking them, sometimes called the Semaglutide Rebound. This does not have to be the case if you choose to dial in a lifestyle diet and be mindful about following it.

Factors that contribute to weight gain following the use of Semaglutide include:

  • Metabolic changes—Medications may work in the short term, but they do not address your overall health. It would be a good idea to have a full physical to be sure you do not have any metabolic issues getting in the way.
  • Lifestyle factors – No matter how well a medication works, it must be accompanied by lifestyle changes to sustain the weight loss. You’re likely to regain weight if you maintain a diet that includes overeating processed or sugary foods and doesn’t engage in physical activity. Sleep is also very important for optimal decision-making.
  • Psychological aspects – These medications don’t consider the psychological factors behind weight loss and how to address them. Food addiction is a real thing and, when dealt with, can provide you with tools to allow for lasting weight loss.



Semaglutide can be a great solution, especially if you have certain habits built to support the maintenance of your weight loss. No matter how much success you experience while taking semaglutide drugs, that success will be fleeting if you do not have the proper routines and habits in place long-term. You can make lasting changes.  Make a commitment. Be dedicated to your health!  Stay consistent with diet and exercise. Find things that you LOVE!  Make your goals sustainable!
