Bio=identical hormone optimization can be a game changer for many of our patients as they age. We strive to help our patients to feel like the best version of themselves!

It can be hard these days to figure out which form of hormone replacement therapy will serve you best.  Perhaps, you are a patient who has signs and symptoms of progesterone, testosterone and estradiol deficiency.  This decision process is best made with your doctors advice and needs to fit in with your lifestyle, past medical history, family history and also it must simply feel right to you.  Labratory testing of serum/blood is necessary to document the need for hormone replacement and can also give clues as to which method and which dosage is best for you.  We also like to offer our patients a symptom questionnaire to fill out.  At the Natural Path, we uniquely tailor our bio-identical hormone prescriptions to match each patients specific needs.  Dr. Madda spends most of his “spare time” outside of the office researching and learning about the latest measures in the bio-identical hormone world.  He is truly a wealth of information on this topic.

What are Bio-Identical Hormones?

The term “bio-identical” simply describes the structure of the hormone.  This means that these hormones are chemically identical to the hormones that your body makes prior to menopause for women and andropause for men.  Hormones that are synthetic are not structured exactly the same as our own endogenous hormones and are often not made from plants. We find in our practice that bio-identical hormones provide the patient with greater symptom relief and less side effects.

Who is a Candidate for Hormone Replacement

There are many different reasons that patients choose to optimize hormone levels. Most of the time, our patients are peri menopausal or menopausal and feel significant symptoms due to the natural decline in hormones. As a mentor of mine once said … “we are outliving our hormones in the 21 st century.”  Replacing hormones when necessary can provide for a greater quality of life for many men and women by providing increased energy, improved libido, better memory function and mental clarity, a brighter out look on life and a stronger physical body.  Of course, it is important to choose your physician wisely and be sure you are under supervision and have your labs tested regularly.
