HCG DIET and weight lossI am blown away by the incredible impact losing weight has on the lives of so many of our patients.  Confidence improves, blood pressure often normalizes, blood sugar often normalizes and health just elevates.  Did you know that obesity can shorten your life and rob you of your health over time? I am truly passionate about the medical weight loss programs that I guide my patients through as the results are so rewarding and inspiring.

According to a study  in 2014 by the Intramural Research Program — a subsidiary of the National Institutes of Health—extreme obesity may shorten life expectancy by up to 14 years.

“The effects of obesity on life expectancy have been very well studied,” says Hans Schmidt, M.D., bariatric surgeon at Hackensack University Medical Center. “There’s no question that it can shorten your lifespan, and by large numbers. If you can get the weight off before there’s major damage done to your organs, that will tremendously prolong your life.”

Obesity is on the Rise

Across the world, obesity has almost tripled since 1975, and over 2.8 million people die each year due to being overweight or obese.  These statistics come from the World Health Organization (WHO). In 2020, the WHO also found that 39 million children under the age of 5 were overweight or obese.  Globally, 44 percent of diabetes, 23 percent of ischemic heart disease and as much as 41 percent of certain cancers can be attributed to being overweight or obese, according to the WHO.

What’s devastating about numbers like this is that obesity is treatable.  We do not have to live this way. SO why do we sell the food we do? Why don’t we educate our children in school about a healthy way of living and eating? This I will never understand.

How Much do you need to Lose to have Benefits

Losing  5 to 10 percent of excess body weight can add years to your life. You can live longer, but also you’ll live healthier.  Helping patients lose weight is incredibly rewarding. In the past year, I have helped countless patients lose 50+ lbs and 3 lose over 100+ lbs. They look different and they feel different. They stuck with it and made some lifestyle changes. They also still treat themselves with frequency. Maintaining weight loss is also an important piece of the puzzle.

It’s never too late to start the weight loss journey. Start Now!
