The HCG Diet can Help with a Healthy Body Composition

Body Composition and your Overall Health

Before any of our patients begin the HCG Diet program, we always test their body composition on our InBody Body Composition analyzer. After using this device with over a thousand patients, I can attest to its accuracy!  The body composition analysis is an important part of the HCG Diet process. It will tell us what a healthy amount of weight is for a specific patient to lose. The number of pounds on the scale does not tell the whole story.  We can have 2 people who look exactly the same in height and stature and one can have a skeleton that weighs 20 lbs more than the other and therefore has 10 lbs more of lean mass.  I see patients at times who appear thin and actually have a great deal of fat mass and very little lean body mass.  The comprehensive body composition can tell me so much more about how I can help patients achieve optimal wellness.

WHAT DOES THE BODY COMPOSITION ANALYZER TELL US

Our body composition is made up of lean body mass and fat mass. Lean body mass is anything in the body that is not fat mass — this accounts for muscle mass, intracellular water, extracellular water, organs, bones, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue, etc.  The body composition analyzer tells our HCG Diet patients what is a good amount of weight to lose to be in a healthy body. It tells patients if they need to gain any lean mass. It also tells BMI (body mass index), BMR (basal metabolic rate).  If a patient has a high percent body fat then they are clearly at risk for many of todays chronic health problems … such as obesity, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, etc.  I prefer to see about 18-20% body fat in men and 22-24% body fat in women.

Causes of a Poor Body Composition

In the USA, nearly 2/3rds of adults are overweight and have an unfavorable body composition.  With this increasing number of people who are overweight comes an increase in major diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer.  Some of the factors that contribute to a poor body composition are:

  • Sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercise/physical activity
  • Over eating
  • High carbohydrate and sugar diet
  • Diet void of healthy proteins and plants
  • Excessive alcohol intake

Benefits of a Healthy Body Composition

I love it when I see body compositions improve with the HCG Diet program. It is very rewarding to see.  With an optimal body composition comes a healthier life!

It’s worth striving for!

  • Normal level of blood pressure
  • Improved sleep patterns
  • Happier outlook on life
  • Higher energy levels and improved endurance
  • Decreased inflammation
  • Improved blood circulation
  • Improved cardiac function
  • Improved blood levels of cholesterol
  • Improved breathing, respiration, and lung function
  • Improved glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity
