
Why We Love Lemons on our HCG Diet Program
THE VITAMINS AND MINERALS OF LEMONSLemons contain many health boosting nutrients. They are very high in Vitamin C. Vitamin C is one of my favorite immune enhancing supplements. Citric acid is also a big part of the lemon’s nutritional picture and explains why lemons are so great at cleaning surfaces in our homes!! Lemons are also rich in bioflavenoids, magnesium, limonene and pectin.
Ways to Use the Health Benefits of the LemonMost obvious, is to drink some lemon water. Take a nice lemon, slice it in half and use a lemon juicer to squeeze half of a lemon in a tall glass of room temp water. Do this first thing in the morning to prime digestion. I also like to add a good squeeze of lemon to my teas throughout the day. I have heard of some people using lemons in the bath to help the skin to detoxify. The citric acid in lemon is really great for the skin and can be used to treat acne. You can simply add some fresh lemon juice to a cotton ball and apply it to the affected area.
