Choosing “Clean” Drinks

hcg diet portlandEating clean doesn’t stop with eating. It also means drinking clean. Toxins can get into the body from a myriad of sources, and beverages are definitely high on the list. We encourage all of our medically supervised weight loss patients (HCG DIET/SYNERGYrx weight loss) to be aware of the quality of food that they choose to consume.

Be Mindful of Your Beverages When Eating “CLEAN”

Coffee!!!  Coffee is probably one of the most important drinks to choose “organic” or from a local “no spray” farm.  Coffee is one of the most sprayed crops on the planet.  If you drink animal milk try to choose raw if it is available in your state.  If  raw, dairy milk is out of the question, at least stick to organic pasteurized milk, ideally from grass-fed cows. Many milks may say “organic but the cows are not always grass-fed or pasture raised.  Water is also best if it is spring water or at least filtered. Most US tap waters contain chemicals and sometimes beyond the recommended FDA amounts.

Be Careful What you Drink From

If possible, avoid drinking from Styrofoam cups. Styrofoam can release potentially toxic breakdown products such as styrene, particularly when heated. Try to stick to ceramic, glass, paper or safer plastics (those which have recycling numbers 1, 2 or 5).  Get rid of all plastic bottles and containers with the recycling numbers 3, 6 and 7 on the bottom. These leach plastics into your beverages.  If you can, switch to stainless steel, glass or silicone bottles for all your drinks.
